Access to DD Lab

Get 24/7 access

  1. Students at Digital Design and Information Science, CC, receive 24/7 access to DD Lab during their studies. This typically happens in connection with an introduction to the technologies available in the lab.
  2. If you are a student at another degree program and have a project—such as a bachelor’s project, exam project, master’s thesis, or similar—and you would like 24/7 access to the lab, please send a short description of the project, the period it runs for, and information about your/your group’s affiliation with the university.

The application should be sent to Rasmus Lunding: rasl@cc.au.dk

As a 24/7 user of DD Lab, please note the following

LEAVE A TRACE

DD Lab’s primary purpose is to provide students at IKK with access to physical interaction and maker technologies.

DD Lab is funded by teaching funds, so it is important that there is documentation showing what the lab is used for.

We call this “leaving a trace.” As a 24/7 user, we expect you (and/or your group) to leave a trace.

If you are doing exam projects or similar work in DD Lab, documentation must therefore be provided.

It’s very easy: Scan the QR code below and follow the instructions.

CONDUCT IN DD LAB

All activities and the use of tools in the lab is at your own risk.

DD Lab, the Department, or Aarhus University cannot be held liable for accidents or personal injury in DD Lab.

It is the users’ responsibility to ensure that the lab is kept tidy and that items, tools, technologies, and materials are put back in their proper places after use.

The technologies, tools, and materials available in DD Lab belong to the lab and must remain in the lab.

You can also check ddlab.au.dk/github for tutorials showing how to use the various technologies and tools.

BUY-OUT OF MATERIALS

You can buy out materials and technologies you implement in your designs in connection with a project, prototype, or product development — at a favorable price.

Ask a staff member or email Rasmus Lunding at rasl@cc.au.dk if you are interested in the above.

LENDING OF EQUIPMENT

It is possible to borrow technologies, tools, components, etc. from the DD Lab . Ask a member of staff if there are items you would like to borrow from the lab.

WEBSHOP

On Aarhus University’s webshop you can purchase materials and technologies.

The webshop is here: ddlab.au.dk/webshop

Kind regards,
DD Lab Staff

Code of conduct for users

As a user, you should not expect to keep the work you do in the lab confidential by referring to non-disclosure agreements, etc. The lab is a publicly run teaching facility. Therefore, it is expected that you make your work available in return for using the facility, in the form of “leaving a trace” (See above and the Projects site).

All affiliated with AU can lend equipement etc. from the lab. All affiliated with AU can buy from the webshop. But only enrolled students can expect to make use of the lab staff.

PhD students can be granted 24/7 access, but on the same terms as everyone else. For example, it should not be expected that there will be space in the lab to leave projects set up for longer periods of time, etc.
